Each swing in Flat Baseball is linked to a shift through different eras. The starting setting is a quiet suburb, but as you progress, everything shifts into increasingly bizarre settings.

Players are placed in a flat, 2D world with a gentle, cartoonish style. The game doesn't follow traditional baseball simulations but focuses on the feel of swinging the bat at the right time. Each successful hit opens a new sequence of movements, bringing the player closer to different eras. The constant change between environments creates a sense of continuous exploration throughout the experience. Players don't need complex actions; just focus on the rhythm of the ball and the timing of your swing.
The game's environment system constantly changes as gameplay progresses. Players start in a quiet suburban area with a gentle and familiar atmosphere. Then, the game gradually takes you to entirely different settings, such as a dark forest full of strange creatures. Next is ancient Egypt with pyramids and a space imbued with a characteristic mystical atmosphere. Not stopping there, the game opens up to prehistoric times with caves and primitive creatures appearing on the field. At a higher stage, players will face a future where robots become direct opponents. This constant change not only refreshes the visuals but also affects the pace and difficulty of the match. Each era offers a different gameplay experience, forcing players to adapt quickly. Unlocking each stage provides clear motivation to continue conquering higher scores.
The gameplay is built around a one-touch mechanism requiring high precision. When striking the ball, all players have to do is watch its trajectory and time their swing accordingly. If timed correctly, the ball will be sent far away, and the character will automatically run around the base. Each successful shot accumulates points and maintains progress in the match. A perfect shot allows the player to score a home run and earn full points for that turn. On the other hand, if the player misses too many shots, the system will swiftly terminate the current turn. The pace of the match gradually increases over time, making reflexes the most important factor. There aren't too many complex mechanisms; everything revolves around timing and accuracy.
