Flip Spot: Turn Any Surface Into a Stunt

Flip Spot is a physics based parkour game where you turn the space between two platforms into your stage. Jump from rooftops and elevated objects, rotate in the air, link tricks and land your character safely. The controls are simple, but judging height, airtime and landing angle takes real practice. A simple flip can be sufficient to complete a jump, but there are more points available in longer combos. You are training to fail the more you move the more likely you are to fail. Make a decision to keep going or get ready to land.

The Building Blocks of a Successful Jump

Each attempt starts from the edge of a platform. Get ready to jump, get up in the air, and hold the move input to spin. The higher up you start, the more air time you have to work with for longer combinations. The trick is knowing when enough is enough. Each rotation changes the position of your character's body. If your feet aren't pointing toward the landing zone when gravity takes over, a great stunt can turn into a rag doll disaster.

Four skills combine in a successful attempt:

  • Choosing appropriate jump for platform height.
  • Control of rotational speed and number of rotations
  • Watching the character’s position in the air.
  • Landing upright and getting the trick done early enough.

Learning involves failed jumps. Make a small timing adjustment and try again while the last attempt is fresh in your mind. Do the stage again.

Controls

Keyboard

  • Spacebar, W, Up Arrow: Jump, Launch, Flip.
  • R: repeat current level.
  • Esc: Pause game.

If you hold jump input during the airborne phase, the character continues to rotate. Drop it before it hits the ground for a better landing position.

Mobile

On supported mobile versions, use the on-screen Up button. Press to get ready, press to jump and press again while airborne to flip.

Choose a Mode that suits your purpose

Flip Spot has two ways to do its parkour challenges.

Arcade Mode

Arcade Mode will give you a step-by-step progression. To advance in the game, jump fully and land properly. You unlock new moves, stronger launches, faster air rotation and slowly unlock more and more combinations to try out. This mode is for players who want clear goals and stunt situations that become more and more challenging.

Free Mode

Free Mode lets you play in an endless, open environment and practice without the usual progression of levels. Try different corners, try repeating jumps, watch how every movement affects your character. Learn a consistent way to land, or try your new tricks here, before you go back to Arcade Mode.

Create More than 70 Trick Combinations

Flip Spot features over 70 possible trick combinations. You can string flips together with various aerial moves to create longer stunt combos, rather than just doing a single backflip. More complex combinations can lead to better results but also leave less time for recovery. You can start with a move you can hit consistently and add one rotation at a time. This makes it easier to work out which part of the sequence is making you lose control. As you progress, there are more and faster movements and combinations that were impossible at the beginning become possible later.

Discover All Places Day and Night

There are three main backgrounds, giving you different places to practice and perform stunts. The changes in platform height and landing position will affect the time you are in air. Each location also has day and night settings. The difference is mostly cosmetic though, the general challenge of jumping, rotating and landing safely is still there, but with a different vibe. Don’t expect the same timing to work everywhere. A larger drop can be spun over several times, while a smaller drop may require a quick, controlled move.

Helpful Hints for Cleaner Landings

First, Study the Platform

Before you jump, check the height and landing area. This will give you a better idea of how much airtime you have.

Observe the Character's Feet

The target is important, but the position of the character’s body tells you if the landing is ready. When the feet start to point down, cease turning.

Don’t Force Another Turn

An extra rotation can increase the score but if there is no time to recover it is rarely worth it. Get the landing down before you go for a bigger combo.

Change One Thing After a Crash

Change the timing of the jump, the length of the rotation, or the trick that you do, but not all three at once. The physics is made easier to understand by small changes.

Free Mode: Practice New Moves

Try out new tricks in the open area before using them in structured Arcade levels.

Discover Your Best Flip

Flip Spot promotes experimentation, but control is what turns a risky jump into a finished stunt. Discover how various heights affect your airtime, unlock new movements and gradually combine them into more daring combinations. Choose Arcade Mode for a guided challenge or Free Mode to practice at your own pace. Get to the edge, do your next jump and try to complete the trick with a good landing.
